What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited Calafia Cafe & Market A Go-Go for the episode "East Coast, West Coast," which aired June 8, 2018, highlighting the restaurant's farm-to-table California cooking. Calafia opened around 2009 in Palo Alto's Town & Country Village, founded by chef Charlie Ayers, previously Google's first in-house executive chef. According to Palo Alto Online, Calafia closed in August 2018 after nine years in business, when Ayers posted a note on the restaurant's door stating "The costs were greater than the take." Foursquare and Gayot both list the Town & Country Village address as permanently closed, consistent with the Palo Alto Online account. No dated source located since 2018 shows the restaurant operating again under the Calafia name, and no reopening or relocation has been reported.
