The 'American Eats' episode featured Dub's St. Johns, a barbecue restaurant that once operated on North Lombard Street in Portland's St. Johns neighborhood. Willamette Week reported that owner William 'Dub' Travis III announced on Facebook that Dub's St. Johns was closing in October 2018 because the restaurant was not generating enough money to continue. According to Willamette Week, Travis went on to serve his food as chef-in-residence at Marie's, a St. Johns bar, beginning about four months after the closure, and later brought his menu to the World Famous Kenton Club on North Kilpatrick Avenue. A Yelp listing updated 2026-01 continues to mark the North Lombard Street location permanently closed, according to Yelp, with no new business shown operating at the address.
