Gipsy Hill Hotel stands on Gipsy Hill Lane in Exeter, Devon, and describes itself as set in three acres of landscaped gardens. It featured in Series 15, episode 4 of The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5), which aired on 2019-06-27 under the title "Gipsy Hill Hotel, Exeter". According to TheTVDB's episode page, owner Grace planned to retire and hand the business to her daughter Jackie, who was already the manager. Profits were falling, and Grace worried there would not be much left to pass on. Alex Polizzi found the hotel stuck in the past, with dated decor, and had to persuade Grace to loosen her control of the finances so that Jackie could take over straight away. Wikipedia's list of Hotel Inspector episodes gives the same title and air date.

What has happened since: The hotel's own website (gipsyhillhotel.co.uk), read on 2026-10-19, describes four-poster rooms, superior doubles, family rooms, and twin, double and single rooms, with two free parking spaces per room, free Wi-Fi and secure indoor cycle storage. It lists a daily-changing menu of locally sourced meats, a terrace and patio, a lounge for lighter meals and coffee, conference and meeting hire, a function room for events such as birthdays and Christmas parties, and wedding services drawing on 30 years of experience. The page has no date, no street address, no prices, no contact details and no booking method, and it does not mention the television episode. No news report, review page or other dated source about the hotel was found, so the sources read do not show how the hotel is trading now or whether Grace or Jackie runs it.

A Google Maps listing checked 2026-10-20 shows Gipsy Hill Hotel on Gipsy Hill Lane in Exeter with no review newer than about four years, and the hotel's website did not load that day. An Expedia guest review dated October 2024 said the hotel was closed for business.
