What the source shows: The Bulstone's own site (read 2026-10-19) presents self-catering apartments run by hosts Paul and Caroline Burke, who moved to the village in 2020 and whose guests describe the owners as new, which is a different owner and a different concept from the 2016 family-run hotel.

What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5) visited the Bulstone Hotel in Branscombe, an East Devon village, in the episode “The Bulstone Hotel, Branscombe,” which aired 2016-07-20. Wikipedia's list of episodes says owners Judith and Kevin had run the hotel for 20 years and that it had fallen out of favor with family holidaymakers. The Bulstone sits at Higher Bulstone, Branscombe, EX12 3BL, according to a Google Places entry that lists it as operational.

The property's own website, read on 2026-10-19, now presents The Bulstone as self-catering, dog-friendly holiday accommodation in Devon. Its menu lists the Sea Breeze Apartment, Sea Foam Apartment, Sea Mist Apartment, The Suites, a short-term let option, pricing, availability and a reviews page. The homepage quotes guest reviews that describe the owners as new. The About Us page names Paul and Caroline Burke as the hosts, says the family moved to the village in 2020, and says the property was nothing like today's Bulstone in the past. It does not say when the Burkes took over, whether they bought the property, or whether the building operated as a hotel before the change, and neither the homepage nor the About Us page mentions the television episode. Blog posts on the site carry no year, and one refers to new projects at the building.

The sources read show a change in the people running the property and a move away from hotel-style lodging, but none gives the date of a sale, the date the hotel stopped operating, or who carried out the conversion to self-catering.

The Bulstone's own website, read on 2026-10-19, markets the Higher Bulstone property as self-catering holiday accommodation and names Paul and Caroline Burke as its hosts. Its About Us page says the Burke family moved to the village in 2020, and its homepage quotes guest reviews that describe the owners as new. Trip.com lists a nine-room property called Keystone at the Bulstone at the same Higher Bulstone address, with no guest reviews, and Kayak lists it under a similar name with 146 ratings but no review dates.
