What happened after Food Paradise?
The episode featured Gourdough's Public House, known for oversized, heavily topped specialty doughnuts served as both dessert and savory bar food, paired with a full food and cocktail menu. Gourdough's began as a food trailer in Austin and later expanded into sit-down Public House locations. According to the Austin American-Statesman, the South Lamar Boulevard Public House closed on 2022-11-04 after ten years at that address, with owners citing an upcoming redevelopment of the site along with rising labor and food costs. KVUE reported the same closure and noted Gourdough's planned to keep serving customers from its original food trailer at 1503 S. 1st St. and to expand its food-truck and catering operations.
A 2017 CultureMap Austin article had already reported the closure of an earlier downtown Public House location on West 5th Street. Google Places currently lists the S. 1st St. trailer, now branded Gourdough's Big Fat Donuts & Coffee, as operational.
