What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited Gumbo Shack (also billed as Guy's Gumbo Shack) in the "Bar Food" episode (aired 2008-07-21), spotlighting the restaurant's Cajun-style gumbo and other Gulf Coast bar food. Gumbo Shack operated at 212 1/2 Fairhope Avenue in downtown Fairhope, Alabama. A Yelp listing for the business, updated 2026-08, marks it closed, and a separate fan page for the show's featured locations also lists it as closed. A 2026 post on a restaurant-seating industry blog referenced a "new and improved Gumbo Shack," though it did not name a location or reopening date, and no connection to the Fairhope Avenue address could be confirmed. No current website or active phone listing was found as of the 2026-09-08 check.
