What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives featured The Hummingbird Way Oyster Bar in Mobile, Alabama, for the 'Meaty to Meatless' episode, which aired November 10, 2023, spotlighting the restaurant's Gulf oyster and seafood program. The Hummingbird Way is a seafood restaurant on George Street led by chef Jim Smith, a two-time Top Chef competitor and Great American Seafood Cook-Off winner who has chaired the Alabama Seafood Marketing Commission, according to the restaurant's own website, thehummingbirdway.com. A September 8, 2026 direct check of that site returned an HTTP 403 response, which blocks automated access rather than indicating the site is offline.

Yelp's listing for the restaurant, however, was updated in September 2026 and showed 116 reviews, according to Yelp. Google Places also listed the business as operational as of that same date. The Yelp listing carried hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, and Tuesday-through-Thursday evening service, with Monday closures, according to Yelp.
