"John and Bert Bought a Bar," which aired 2019-07-28, sent Jon Taffer to Harbor Point Club & Grill in Richardson, Texas, where the show's own episode description says the owners were drinking away the bar's profits while staff struggled to fill even a single order correctly. Suspecting the owners might be exaggerating their situation for television, Taffer initially told them he was canceling the rescue in favor of a different bar; when the owners reacted with genuine distress at the news, he concluded their problems were real and moved forward with the visit.
