What happened after Bar Rescue?

"Doreen's Dilemma," which aired 2019-08-11, marked what Bar Rescue's own episode notes describe as Jon Taffer's first-ever emergency rescue, brought in for Buffalo City Bar & Grille in St. Petersburg, Florida after the sudden death of the bar's founder left his daughter, Doreen, trying to keep the business running in his place. The episode centered on the strain of running a long-standing family bar through grief and inexperience, with Taffer's team stepping in on an accelerated timeline rather than the show's usual multi-day process. For recon, Taffer brought in radio personality Sam Roberts and comedian Jim Norton to observe the bar's problems firsthand.

The relaunch modernized the bar's identity without abandoning it outright, shortening the name to BCBG, and Taffer's team refreshed the physical space, bar program, and staff training to help Doreen stabilize day-to-day operations. According to the show's own episode notes, the bar was later sold with Taffer's assistance, with ownership passing within the family rather than to an outside buyer. The bar's more recent history points toward closure. According to Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the retail beverage license for Buffalo City Bar & Grille, Inc. at the Park Street North address is listed as expired, with an expiration date of September 30, 2024, and no subsequent renewal appears in the state's licensing database as of this research.

A Yelp business listing for the bar, updated in July 2026, likewise shows the business as closed at the same address. Taken together, the state licensing record and the current review-site listing indicate that Buffalo City Bar & Grille, later operating as BCBG, is no longer active at its longtime Park Street North location as of 2026. No successor business at that address, and no statement from the family about the bar's closure, could be confirmed during this research. The bar's run therefore appears to have ended sometime between the mid-2020s and the current research date, closing out a business that had operated under the same family for years before its Bar Rescue appearance.
