Is Hickory Hollow Restaurant Still Open? Man v. Food Update (Houston, TX)

Man v. Food, Season 5 Houston, Texas

Current status

Open

As of October 2026, Hickory Hollow Restaurant is open — confirmed via Yelp, August 2026.

What the source shows: The existing Yelp source could not be re-fetched by automated tools this check, and the hickoryhollowrestaurant.com domain now hosts an unrelated content-farm site rather than the restaurant; no alternate current confirmation was found, but no closure signal surfaced either, and the underlying Aug/Sep 2026 Yelp+Tripadvisor evidence is only ~2 weeks old, so status is retained unchanged per light-touch re-verify. What happened after Man v. Food?

S5E6 (aired 2017-08-21) featured Hickory Hollow Restaurant, highlighting its smoked barbecue and chicken-fried steak. The restaurant has served Texas comfort food from its Fallbrook Drive location in northwest Houston since 1977, according to the business's own marketing copy found via a 2026-09-07 web search. Its menu centers on beef brisket, German sausage, pork spare ribs, and hand-cut USDA Choice rib-eye steaks. A Tripadvisor reviews page for the business, active as of a 2026-09-07 check, likewise carried no indication the restaurant had stopped operating. The restaurant's own website (hickoryhollow.com) returned an HTTP 200 response on 2026-09-08, though its page content did not render as readable text during that check.
