What happened after The Hotel Inspector?
The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5) episode "Horse and Hound Country Inn; Tenison Towers Guest House" aired June 19, 2018. According to TheTVDB's episode entry, it was the first time host Alex Polizzi took on two hotels in one episode. At the country inn in the Scottish Borders, the entry describes the new owners as seeming disengaged from the business. The second property, Tenison Towers Guest House in Cambridge, has its own record.
The inn's website describes a hotel, restaurant and pub built in 1701 at Bonchester Bridge, near the English border and about seven miles from Jedburgh and Hawick, with nine en-suite bedrooms. Christie & Co's sales listing dated March 22, 2023 offered the leasehold at a 100,000 pound asking price with annual rent of 27,000 pounds. It named the sellers as Dawn and David, who it said had run the business for four years, and described a 60-seat restaurant, a 40-seat bar and snug hosting music events and quizzes, a beer garden and a one-bedroom owner's flat.
The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) database entry, last updated November 18, 2025 and surveyed February 2, 2025, lists the pub at Bonchester Bridge, TD9 8JN, with hours of 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, noon to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and noon to midnight on Friday and Saturday, with food Wednesday to Sunday. The inn's own site, which carries a 2022 copyright line, shows different hours (8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on most days) and names no owners. A Google Maps listing checked October 19, 2026 was marked operational. None of the sources says whether the leasehold sale in the Christie & Co listing went ahead.
