What happened after The F Word: Britain's Best Local Restaurant?

Lasan, an Indian restaurant in St Paul's Square in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, took the Indian heat of Britain's Best Local Restaurant on Gordon Ramsay's The F Word (Channel 4) in the episode "Indian Restaurants" shown on 2009-11-10, scoring 76 out of 100 against 64 for The Curry Corner of Cheltenham, according to Wikipedia. Wikipedia lists it in the first semi-final on 2010-01-05 and as the winner of the final on 2010-01-07, where it beat The Pheasant of Keyston. DesignMyNight describes Lasan as an Indian restaurant with more than 20 years of history, with bar seating for samosas and drinks and private hire, and credits it with five British Curry Awards. Lasan's own website cites a Great British Menu win, a Waitrose Good Food Guide Top 50 listing and a "Best UK local restaurant" award from Ramsay's show. DesignMyNight's listing, last modified 2026-10-06, gives regular opening hours and special hours running into 2027, and the restaurant's website carried a 2026 copyright notice when read on 2026-10-20.

On 2010-01-05, in the episode "The Dish of Their Lives", Lasan appeared in the first semi-final of Britain's Best Local Restaurant on Gordon Ramsay's The F Word (Channel 4), alongside Sweet Mandarin of Manchester and Santa Maria del Sur of Battersea, according to Wikipedia's series table. The table says the semi-finalists had served signature dishes to panels of diners at their own restaurants and then cooked in a cook-off at Ramsay's Royal Hospital Road restaurant in Chelsea; it gives no scores or dishes for the semi-finals. Lasan had reached this stage by scoring 76 against 64 for The Curry Corner in the Indian heat shown on 2009-11-10. Lasan, at 3-4 Dakota Buildings, James Street, St Paul's Square in Birmingham, describes itself on its website as an award-winning Indian restaurant and cites a Great British Menu win and a Waitrose Good Food Guide Top 50 listing.
