What happened after Food Paradise?
Food Paradise's "Soul Food Paradise" episode (S4E16, 2013) featured Mama Dip's Kitchen, spotlighting traditional Southern country cooking, including fried chicken and pecan pie, at Mildred Cotton Council's Chapel Hill restaurant. According to Wikipedia (revised 2025-09-01), Council, known as Mama Dip, founded the restaurant in 1976. Chapelboro reported that the property was listed for sale in 2023 for $3.6 million, that the restaurant shifted to takeout and event-space service only in August 2024, and that the business announced on Facebook that it was permanently closed on 2025-07-23, ending nearly five decades of service on Rosemary Street. Google Places likewise marks the location as permanently closed. The mamadips.com website remained live on 2026-09-08, but its current content is limited to shipping the Mama Dip's packaged sauce and mix line rather than restaurant service.
