What happened after Food Paradise?
Food Paradise's "Soul Food Paradise" episode (S4E16, 2013) featured This Is It Soul Food, spotlighting a soul-food steam table with fried chicken, oxtails, and other cafeteria-style Southern dishes. According to Black Enterprise, Frank and Mattie Jones opened the restaurant in Houston's Fourth Ward around 1959, and it later moved into the city's Third Ward. Black Enterprise reported that the Third Ward location, at 2712 Blodgett Street, closed permanently on 2025-10-12 after 66 years in business, and quoted the Jones family saying they would focus on growth, rebranding, and innovation at their Humble, Texas location going forward.
A Yelp listing for that Humble address showed updated photos and reviews in June 2026, and Google Places geocodes this record to that Humble location rather than the closed Third Ward flagship. The restaurant's Instagram page (@houston_thisisit) remained live when checked on 2026-09-08, though it displayed no dated posts confirming current hours at the Humble address.
