What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited Mediterraneo Caffe, an Italian restaurant on Providence, Rhode Island's Federal Hill, for the episode 'East Coast Comfort,' which aired 2012-09-24. Mediterraneo had operated at 134 Atwells Avenue since 1997 under owner Gianfranco Marrocco's Marrocco Group, part of a cluster of restaurants the group owned along the same stretch of Atwells Avenue. Turn to 10 (WPRI) and GoLocalProv both reported that the restaurant served its last guests on 2015-11-07, after Marrocco accepted an offer to sell the restaurant property, a deal that included the building and two adjoining residential houses. GoLocalProv further reported that the neighboring restaurant Caffe Dolce Vita added Mediterraneo-inspired menu items at earlier pricing in the weeks after the closure. No reporting found in this check indicates Mediterraneo itself reopened at the Atwells Avenue address.
