What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited "O" So Good Restaurant in the "South Dakota Smorgasbord" episode, which aired January 1, 2021. Chef Omar Thornton opened the restaurant in Garretson, South Dakota, in 2017, building a menu around Southern-style comfort food, according to the Mitchell Republic. KELOLAND News reported on July 1, 2021 that the Garretson restaurant was closing as its lease came due, and that Thornton planned to reopen inside a downtown Sioux Falls bar and nightclub as "O So Good at Wiley's," with dinner service set to begin August 1, 2021.
The Mitchell Republic separately reported on July 9, 2021 that the Garretson location's final day of service was set for July 10, 2021. Google's business listing for the original Garretson address, 529 N. Main Avenue, shows the restaurant's status as permanently closed. The move was short-lived. SiouxFalls.Business reported on August 10, 2021 that Thornton was ending the 'O' So Good restaurant business less than two weeks after reopening it at Wileys in downtown Sioux Falls, and Dakota News Now reported a week later that he had become head chef at the Washington Pavilion. The restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives no longer operates at either location.
