What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?
"The Best Thing I Ever Ate" featured Odd Duck Farm To Trailer for its farm-driven small plates, cooked over a wood fire from a mobile trailer that chef Bryce Gilmore parked around Austin starting in 2009. Gilmore later opened a permanent restaurant under the shortened name Odd Duck at 1201 South Lamar Boulevard in 2013, moving the concept off the trailer entirely. According to Yelp, whose listing for Odd Duck was updated in September 2026, the South Lamar restaurant continues to operate with nightly hours starting at 4:30 p.m., and the Michelin Guide's own directory lists Odd Duck among current Austin restaurants at the same address. OpenTable's page for the restaurant, last updated in 2026, also shows it taking reservations there. The original trailer no longer operates under the Odd Duck name.
