Chef-owner Andre Gomez opened the restaurant in Smyrna, Georgia in November 2015, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on 2021-10-07 that the restaurant had permanently closed after nearly six years in business, citing the difficulty of the restaurant industry, worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, and a desire to spend more time with family. Around the same time, the restaurant's own website posted a message from the owner saying the family had made the decision to close. Gomez suggested in that announcement he might reopen Porch Light at a different Smyrna location in the future.
