What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?
Rathbun's was chef Kevin Rathbun's flagship New American restaurant in Atlanta's Inman Park neighborhood, a wood-grill-driven menu of the kind spotlighted in the show's 'Grilled' episode (S3E1), operating out of the Stove Works building since around 2004. Rathbun built the restaurant around open-fire cooking, and it anchored the Krog Street dining corridor for roughly 17 years. According to Atlanta Magazine, published May 13, 2020, Rathbun had already planned to close the restaurant later that year over a lease dispute, but moved up the closure when COVID-19 hit, telling the magazine 'let's just go ahead' and shutting the doors at the end of March 2020. A Yelp page for the Krog Street address was marked closed as of a September 2026 update, according to Yelp. Rathbun continues to operate other Atlanta restaurants under his own name.
