What happened after Bar Rescue?

Ripper's Rock House was a rock-themed bar in the Kenmore section of Akron, Ohio, co-owned by former Judas Priest and Iced Earth vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens and his business partner, Micah Posten. Owens and Posten opened the bar together in 2012, and Owens took on sole ownership in 2013. On Bar Rescue's "Ripper's Rookie House," which aired November 1, 2015, the two partners struggled with day-to-day management while balancing outside commitments -- Owens's touring schedule and Posten's landscaping business -- that left neither of them consistently present to run the bar.

Jon Taffer's team retrained staff and reworked operations, relaunching the business under a new name, Tim Owens' Traveler's Tavern. According to the episode's six-week follow-up, the relaunched bar brought in more than $113,000 in food and beverage sales. The relaunch did not hold long term. Cleveland Scene and the trade outlet Bar & Restaurant News, which both covered the bar around the time of the episode, described ownership continuing to be split between Owens's music career and Posten's separate business after the makeover. According to Reality TV Updates and other fan sites, Tim Owens' Traveler's Tavern closed in 2016, with Owens and Posten choosing to step back from bar ownership to focus on their other full-time work; some accounts place the closure in August 2016 and others in September 2016, a discrepancy that could not be resolved from available sources.

A Foursquare listing for the address, 2727 Manchester Rd in Akron's Kenmore neighborhood, tags the location "(Now Closed)." By around 2023, the building was reported to house a different, unrelated business, Magic City Brewing Company -- a change of tenant rather than a continuation of the Ripper's Rock House operation. No reporting found in researching this record describes any dispute or misconduct behind the 2016 closure; the available accounts frame it as a voluntary decision by two owners who could not sustain the time commitment a bar requires alongside their other careers. As of the most recent information available, the original Ripper's Rock House/Traveler's Tavern business is no longer in operation at the Manchester Road address.
