What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
On 'Fresh Fish & Funky Chicken' (aired 2014-12-05), Guy Fieri sampled Smokey D's Asian smoked chicken wings, cherrywood-smoked then fried and finished with barbecue sauce, according to Mashed.com. Smokey D's BBQ was co-founded in 2006 by pitmaster Darren Warth, whose competitive barbecue team has won multiple state and national titles, and the business grew from a single Des Moines location into three Iowa locations. The restaurant's website, smokeydsbbq.com, returned an HTTP 200 response with an active online ordering system when checked on 2026-09-08, though no dated 2026 content was found on the page. Smokey D's continues to publicize its 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' feature; a company blog post recapping the visit was published on smokeydsbbq.com on 2023-12-19, showing the restaurant still promotes its Triple D history.
