What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

Spanhoe Lodge is a bed-and-breakfast and meeting venue at Laxton, near Corby, Northamptonshire, run by co-owners Reece Crane and Neil Roberts, who took over the business in 2016, according to LincsOnline (2021-07-28). The Wikipedia list of Hotel Inspector episodes and TVmaze describe the Channel 5 visit (series 16, episode 6, aired 2021-07-22) as a call for help after an unexplained drop in guests. TVmaze's listing says Alex Polizzi found the decor gloomy but saw potential in the lodge and its meticulous owners. LincsOnline reported that after an overnight stay she judged the bedrooms fine but the hotel short on character, and wanted a stronger focus on local produce.

LincsOnline (2021-07-28) reported the changes that followed: the reception was redecorated as she directed, the dining room, which the owners had already refurbished, was adjusted, ingredients began coming from a farm about a mile away, and the lodge went through the AA scheme and was awarded AA stars. The owners told the paper that filming ran for ten days, with Polizzi present for four, and that they felt the program was made more dramatic for television. Since 2016 they had also added an outdoor pool and hot tub, the paper reported. The lodge's own website (spanhoelodge.co.uk), viewed on 2026-10-19, shows named guest rooms, afternoon tea, a four-star rating, a 2026 copyright line and ticket booking for a Christmas 2026 Santa's Grotto event.
