What happened after Gordon Ramsay's 24 Hours to Hell and Back?

Stone's Throw was a waterfront American restaurant on the Housatonic River in Seymour, Connecticut, purchased three years before Gordon Ramsay's visit by married couple Peter and Tara, who had put their combined savings into the business. As the episode showed, the couple was only months from closing when Ramsay's crew arrived in November 2018, and Peter's health had recently been complicated by a cancer diagnosis that Tara said had changed him. Ramsay, dining in an elaborate disguise with a group of companions, found an odd smell in the dining room, dated decor, overcooked salmon, and cold duck; one of his dining companions was later diagnosed with food poisoning after the meal.

Hidden-camera footage shown to the staff documented plastic found in food, poultry stored improperly, and moldy fruit, along with kitchen staff not pulling their weight, including the couple's adult sons, who worked at the restaurant without much accountability from their parents. For the relaunch, Ramsay's team introduced a new menu built around fresh ingredients, gave the restaurant a new point-of-sale system and kitchen equipment, and redecorated the dining room with warmer, earth-toned finishes. Peter took an active role in learning the new dishes himself. The relaunch dinner drew a strong turnout that initially overwhelmed the kitchen, but Peter stepped in to help expedite food, and the night ended with satisfied customers, including the earlier food-poisoning guest returning for a better experience.

According to reporting by the Connecticut Post, Stone's Throw closed roughly eight months after the January 2019 episode aired, coinciding closely with the closure of a fellow Connecticut restaurant from the same show, Vasi's Taverna in Waterbury; the owner of that other restaurant told the paper the two closures were unrelated to the television appearance. A fan-site report on realitytvupdates.com placed the Stone's Throw closure date at December 2019 and noted the property later sold for roughly $468,000 in 2021. The address is now home to an unrelated restaurant, Housatonic House, whose own website confirms it has operated there since opening in April 2022 and lists seasonal operating hours for 2026.
