On Best Thing I Ever Ate's "Nutty" episode, Sunny Anderson recommended Tanoreen's knafeh, a Middle Eastern dessert built on stretched cheese and topped with crushed pistachios. Tanoreen is a Palestinian restaurant at 7523 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn's Bay Ridge neighborhood, opened in 1998 by chef/owner Rawia Bishara after years of hosting dinner parties for friends and family, and it has since built a menu of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean home-style cooking. Tanoreen's own website lists write-ups in outlets including The New York Times, The New Yorker and Gourmet. Yelp's Tanoreen listing, updated August 2026, shows the restaurant actively taking reviews, and a September 2026 check of the restaurant's own website found it loading normally with current hours and an online-ordering link, indicating the restaurant remained open under the same name and address.
