Taylor Gourmet built its menu around Philadelphia-style hoagies and cheesesteaks, importing Amoroso rolls to replicate the sandwiches its founders grew up eating outside Philadelphia. The shop expanded from a single Washington, D.C. storefront into a small local chain serving the city's downtown and Capitol Hill neighborhoods. As of May 2026, Yelp's listing for the 1400 K St NW location downtown carried no closure notice, unlike a former Taylor Gourmet address at 1200 19th St NW that Yelp marks permanently closed.
