What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited The Federal Food, Drink & Provisions during the 'Grillin, Chillin & Huli Huli Chicken' episode, aired 2014-05-30, highlighting the gastropub's brunch plates, including wings 'n' waffles, smoked brisket 'n' eggs, and pork belly hash. The Federal opened in January 2012 in Miami's Design District area under chef Cesar Zapata and co-owner Aniece Meinhold, and was named Best Neighborhood Restaurant by Miami New Times in 2012. According to Miami New Times, the restaurant closed on May 8, 2016, and reopened nine days later under a shortened name, the Fed, with a new Southwestern-leaning menu from Zapata. Yelp's listing for the Fed Food + Drink marked the restaurant permanently closed in a November 2025 update, showing no successor business operating under either name at the Biscayne Boulevard address.
