What happened after Food Paradise?
On Food Paradise (Travel Channel)'s "Easy as Pie" episode, Fireman Derek's Bake Shop was featured for its Key Lime Pie, made with fresh, hand-squeezed key limes and a graham cracker crust; Miami New Times has named it the city's best Key Lime Pie. The bakery was founded by former Miami firefighter Derek Kaplan and now has locations in Miami's Wynwood and Coconut Grove neighborhoods as well as Fort Lauderdale. Since the episode, Yelp's listing for the Wynwood location was updated in September 2026 and shows nearly 1,400 reviews. A 2026-09-08 check of the bakery's website, firemandereks.com, found a working online ordering option for each location. Google Places lists the business as operational as of the same date.
