What happened after Man v. Food?
Casey Webb's final Oakland stop was The Lumpia Company, a Filipino restaurant. He took on the Lumpia Challenge, a 3.5-pound plate of 28 lumpia rolls, cut into 56 pieces, across four flavors: oxtail kare-kare, chicken tinola, spicy pork-and-shrimp Bicol express, and a peach-mango cobbler version, each with its own dipping sauce, to be finished in thirty minutes; nobody had completed the challenge before him. Casey struggled with the thick peanut sauce and the spice of the Bicol express rolls before local advice to dip the pieces in their sauces helped him pick up speed, and he finished with twenty-two seconds remaining to become the challenge's first winner, earning a free t-shirt. The restaurant's own website remains active, listing the same 288 9th Avenue address, current hours, online ordering, and options for catering, frozen lumpia shipping, and merchandise.
