What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (Food Network) featured The Sparrow Tavern in the season 12 episode "Bar Food and Bon Bons," which aired May 9, 2011. The Sparrow Tavern was a bar in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York, operating at 24-01 29th St since 2005, according to QNS. Patch reported that the tavern's menu included tacos, burgers, sandwiches, and salads and soups made with locally sourced ingredients. According to QNS, The Sparrow Tavern closed permanently in late 2024, and a new bar, Wylie's, opened in the same space at the end of 2025.

Yelp's listing for the address, last updated in May 2026, also lists The Sparrow Tavern as closed. The tavern's own website, thesparrowtavern.com, still returned a working page as of a September 8, 2026 check, though it displayed only a generic template with no current menus, hours or dated content.
