The Union was a Midvale, Utah bar owned by Bill, who according to a recap by QNewsHub and RealityTVUpdates was more than $500,000 in debt, including $300,000 owed to his in-laws, by the time Bar Rescue's Jon Taffer arrived for the episode "Still Bill" (aired 2020-03-22). RealityTVUpdates reported that Taffer's surveillance found oversized drinks that, under Utah's 1.5-ounce liquor pour limit, came out watered down, and that the kitchen ran without a manager, resulting in overcooked, freezer-burned chicken wings served to customers. Taffer's crew renovated the bar and, according to RealityTVUpdates, renamed it The Midway Tavern, adding a carousel horse on the wall to fit a theme-park motif; RealityTVUpdates described The Midway as one of the rarer Bar Rescue makeovers that kept its new name and continued to perform well afterward. The bar has since rebranded again.
