On Best Thing I Ever Ate's 'Obsessions' episode, Tree Bistro was featured for its French bistro cooking, served in a narrow East Village dining room with a garden space in back. Tree Bistro was a French restaurant on First Avenue that operated in the East Village for 12 years. EV Grieve reported on 2019-12-30 that Tree Bistro would close its doors after service the following night, ending its run in the neighborhood after weathering earlier setbacks including Hurricane Sandy, per the same report. A Yelp listing for the restaurant, updated in July 2026, still marks Tree Bistro as closed, and Google Places likewise lists the business as permanently closed at 190 1st Ave #4004, New York, NY. No successor restaurant at the address has been identified in the sources checked.
