What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?

On Best Thing I Ever Ate's 'Obsessions' episode, Dahlia Lounge was featured for its Pacific Northwest cooking, the style chef Tom Douglas built his reputation on after opening the restaurant in downtown Seattle in 1989. Dahlia Lounge was a fine-dining restaurant that helped Douglas earn a James Beard Award in 1994 and later anchored his broader Seattle restaurant group, which grew to include Serious Pie, Dahlia Bakery, and several other concepts. The Seattle Times reported on 2021-01 that Douglas had permanently closed Dahlia Lounge after 32 years in business, converting the space to house his Serious Pie concept alongside an expanded Dahlia Bakery. Google's location match for this record returned Dahlia Bakery, a separate, still-operating Douglas business at the same 2001 4th Ave address; Dahlia Lounge itself no longer operates there.
