What happened after Food Paradise?
Velvet Cantina appeared in Food Paradise's "Apps Download" episode (S14E6) as a Mexican-style cantina on 23rd Street in San Francisco's Mission District. A Google Places lookup for the address now lists Velvet Cantina's business status as permanently closed. A site check on September 8, 2026 found that the restaurant's former web address now belongs to Shuggie's, a separate business with its own menu, wine club, and event bookings at the same address. No dated news coverage of the closure itself was located; the determination here rests on the Google Places status flag together with the site's current, unrelated content, which together indicate Velvet Cantina no longer operates at this location, though the exact date it closed and any explanation for the closure remain undetermined.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
