What happened after Mystery Diners?

In the 'Where's the Beef?' episode (aired 2013-01-25), owner Adam Gomes had grown concerned that his Las Vegas churrascaria, Via Brasil, was coming up short on meat inventory night after night, and he brought in Mystery Diners' undercover investigators, posing as new hires, to watch the carving stations and dining room during a live rodizio service. Hidden cameras showed staffer J.P. cutting corners on portioning policy, setting aside cuts of meat for his own use after close, and separately approaching diners at their tables to collect cash donations for a charity that turned out not to exist. When Gomes was shown the footage, he let J.P. go on the spot, while a second employee, Darin, was shown handling the same rodizio service honestly and keeping accurate track of portions under the same pressure; Gomes moved Darin into a manager role to help supervise carving, portioning, and cash handling going forward.

According to Wikipedia's article on the series, citing its sources, Mystery Diners carries an on-screen disclaimer that its events may be staged or re-enacted for dramatic effect and has been described by a television critic as leaning on implausible scenarios and unconvincing acting. Via Brasil now operates as Via Brasil Steakhouse in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas. Its site, viabrasilsteakhouse.com, listed active Thursday-through-Sunday dinner and weekend brunch hours and offered a working reservation/ordering feature when checked on 2026-09-08, and a Google Places listing marked the business operational that same day.
