What happened after Mystery Diners?

In the Mystery Diners episode "Night Shift," which aired January 4, 2013, Janaya, general manager of Putter's Bar & Grill in Las Vegas, noticed unusually low sales during the graveyard shift and asked Charles Stiles to find out why. Investigators posing as customers spent time at the bar overnight and discovered that the overnight bartender was running an unauthorized side bar out of Putter's, apparently pocketing proceeds that should have gone through the register rather than reporting the shift's true sales. When confronted on camera with the investigators' footage, the bartender recognized Charles Stiles and left the premises rather than answer questions about what he had been doing.

Janaya was advised to tighten oversight of the overnight shift, audit register totals against inventory more closely, and put controls in place to prevent an employee from operating a business within the business again. Wikipedia's article on Mystery Diners notes, citing its sources, that the show carries an on-screen disclaimer stating some events may be staged or re-enacted for dramatic purposes, and that a television critic has described its scenarios and performances as implausible. A Yelp listing for this South Strip location at 8945 Las Vegas Blvd S, updated April 2026 with recent reviews, does not show the bar marked closed, and Google Places lists its business status as operational.
