Food's Louisville stop also included Wagner's Pharmacy, a diner-style pharmacy counter across from Churchill Downs that has served breakfast and lunch since 1922, when Leo Wagner Sr. bought the original drugstore, according to the episode's synopsis on discoveryplus.com. Casey Webb tried the Kentucky Hot Brown, an open-faced sandwich of sliced turkey and Mornay sauce over Texas toast, topped with grilled bacon, diced tomato and shredded Parmesan, calling it a "full-bodied sandwich." The counter sits directly across South Fourth Street from the Churchill Downs racetrack and has long been a stop for the Kentucky Derby crowd, according to local visitor-guide listings. The episode aired in December 2017. Wagner's Pharmacy remains open as of a Yelp listing updated in August 2026, which shows reviews as recent as December 2025 alongside the restaurant's current Tuesday-through-Sunday breakfast and lunch hours.
