What happened after Mystery Diners?

In the Mystery Diners (Food Network) episode "Menu Mayhem" (season 3, episode 10; aired June 21, 2013), owner Francesco began hearing praise for Tex-Mex dishes that had no place on the Italian menu at his Dallas restaurant, Zio Cecio. Undercover Mystery Diners investigators Tracy and Justin worked inside the restaurant and found that the head chef and floor manager had built an unauthorized side menu, offering the wait staff cash incentives to steer customers toward it, and telling coworkers they planned to open a competing restaurant within six months. Show host Charles Stiles and Francesco confronted the pair on camera, and Francesco fired both the head chef and the floor manager.

Wikipedia's article on Mystery Diners, citing its sources, notes that the program carries a disclaimer stating its events may be staged or re-enacted for dramatic effect, and describes a television critic's view that some of its scenarios read as implausible. Zio Cecio has continued operating under Francesco at its original Lovers Lane address in the years since. A September 2026 check of the restaurant's own website, ziocecio.com, found a working online reservation system, an active ordering widget, and posted Saturday hours. A Yelp listing for the restaurant at the same address was separately updated in June 2026 with customer photos and reviews. The restaurant also maintains an active Facebook page under the name Zio Cecio Cucina.
