What happened after Man v. Food?
On the same Fargo, North Dakota episode, Casey Webb stopped at BernBaum's, described on the show as blending Andrea Baumgardner's Nordic heritage with her husband Brett Bernath's Jewish culinary roots, and tried the restaurant's Lingonberry Blintzes. BernBaum's opened in 2016 inside a midcentury-modern furniture store in downtown Fargo and became known for bagels, smoked fish, and Scandinavian-Jewish fusion brunch dishes; Baumgardner was later a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Midwest. The episode aired March 3, 2020. Valley News Live and the Fargo Forum (InForum) reported that BernBaum's closed on September 23-24, 2024, after what Valley News Live described as a personnel dispute; Baumgardner told the Forum the situation left the couple unable to commit to rebuilding the business. BernBaum's own website now describes the business as having operated in downtown Fargo "from 2016 to 2024" and today functions only as a recipe archive for a related cookbook.
