What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Part 1 — Season 18, Episode 12 Aired
Guy Fieri visited Blue Koi's original location at 1803 W. 39th Street in Kansas City, Missouri, for the December 23, 2013 episode "Family Time," according to a recap on TVFoodMaps.com. The restaurant, run by the Chang family, specializes in Chinese dumplings and Asian noodle dishes, according to The Brazen Gourmets' profile of the business. KSHB and Fox4KC both reported that the 39th Street location served its last day of business on May 25, 2021, more than seven years after the episode aired. The owners said in a Facebook post, quoted by KSHB, that they were "consolidating" operations at Blue Koi's other location. That second location, at 10581 Mission Road in Leawood, Kansas, remained open under the same Blue Koi name, according to the same KSHB report.
Part 2 — Season 27, Episode 8 Aired
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives featured Blue Koi in Kansas City, Missouri, in the show's 'Amazing Asian' episode (S27E8), which aired September 29, 2017. According to KCUR, Blue Koi is run by sisters Mindi and Jane Chang and is known for hand-made dumplings and noodle dishes with a modern twist. The Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives locations archive lists this as one of more than one Blue Koi appearance on the series. The segment centered on the restaurant's signature noodle-and-dumpling menu rather than a single new dish.
