What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives featured Buya Ramen in the 'From Pied to Fried' episode (S27E10), which aired October 13, 2017. The segment centered on the restaurant's Japanese ramen and izakaya-style small plates. Buya Ramen operated in the EDGE District of downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, at 911 Central Avenue, presenting itself online as an izakaya blending Japanese comfort food with an irreverent, music-driven atmosphere. The Saint Petersburg location closed permanently in August 2025 after roughly nine years at that address, according to St. Pete Rising, with Creative Loafing Tampa separately reporting the same closure that month. Stpetersburgfoodies.com reported that ownership planned to reopen in a new downtown St. Petersburg space in the summer of 2026, but the restaurant's own website had not been updated since around 2023 and showed no evidence of a completed reopening.
