What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?
Best Thing I Ever Ate (Food Network) featured Cafe Jacqueline's soufflés in the show's 'Eggstraordinary' episode. The French restaurant occupied a small dining room and kitchen at 1454 Grant Avenue in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, where owner and chef Jacqueline Margulis served almost exclusively savory and dessert soufflés beginning in 1979. According to SFist, Margulis confirmed on 2026-01-06 that Cafe Jacqueline had closed permanently, with its final service on December 20, 2025. The San Francisco Chronicle separately reported that the restaurant's dining room and kitchen were later listed for sale. No replacement tenant had been reported for the Grant Avenue space in the coverage reviewed.
