What happened after Man v. Food?

Man v. Food host Casey Webb visited Chompie's Scottsdale location to attempt the restaurant's "A Day at the Deli Challenge" for the show's eighth season, succeeding within the 30-minute limit, according to Chompie's own recap of the episode. The challenge requires finishing a bowl of matzo ball soup, a bowl of coleslaw, six mini potato-pancake sandwiches with pastrami and Swiss, and six mini black-and-white cookies, per the same source. Chompie's marked its 40th anniversary around the time of filming, according to the prize description on its website (two commemorative travel mugs for challenge winners), placing its founding around 1980.

The Shea Boulevard location has continued operating as a full-service restaurant, deli, bakery and caterer, according to Chompie's own site, which lists it among its five Phoenix-area locations. Yelp's page for the Scottsdale restaurant, updated August 2026, showed nearly 1,000 reviews, according to that listing.
