What the source shows: North End Waterfront reported in January 2014 that Davide had been sold to undisclosed new owners who did not continue the concept; the successor restaurant, Il Molo, is itself marked permanently closed on a Yelp listing updated in July 2026, so no current operator is confirmed at the address.

What happened after Kitchen Nightmares?

Davide, a fine-dining Italian restaurant on Commercial Street in Boston's North End, was featured in Kitchen Nightmares' sixth episode of Season 4, filmed in December 2010 and aired February 25, 2011. Opened in 1982 and once known for a three-week wait for a table, the restaurant had been run since 1997 by brothers Frank and Anthony Gesualdi, whose relationship fractured after Frank discovered Anthony had embezzled money from the business to support a drug habit and, as recounted on the episode, served time in jail as a result; Anthony had since returned to the restaurant trying, without much success, to rebuild his brother's trust. Ramsay arrived to find décor untouched since the 1990s and a kitchen sliding on quality: a Caesar salad with soggy lettuce, eggplant that turned out to have been frozen for three weeks, store-bought ravioli passed off as house-made, and a lamb dish with a burnt crust. During service, Frank withdrew to a chair rather than run the line, snapped at his brother, and eventually walked out entirely, leaving the rest of the staff to finish dinner service alone.

Ramsay's intervention focused as much on the brothers' relationship as on the food: he mediated a meeting where Anthony apologized in writing and took responsibility for the past, encouraged Frank's wife to hand him back the chef's coat he had stopped wearing, and had Frank cook a lemon chicken dish that impressed him. The restaurant also got an overnight redesign and a new, simplified menu, and Ramsay arranged for a Boston Magazine critic to attend the relaunch.

Kitchen Nightmares checked back in on Davide as part of a Season 5 revisit that aired October 21, 2011, finding business up and the brothers' relationship visibly improved. That improvement did not carry the business indefinitely. According to a January 2014 report from the local outlet North End Waterfront, Frank and Anthony sold Davide to undisclosed new owners who chose not to continue the restaurant, and Davide closed later that year; Frank went on to co-found an Italian-produce operation called Three Boys Farm. A seafood restaurant called Il Molo later operated at the Commercial Street address for roughly a decade, but a Yelp listing for Il Molo itself is marked permanently closed as of a July 2026 update, and no restaurant is currently confirmed operating in the space.
