Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Season 12, Episode 9 Aired

On Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (S12E9, 'Slammin' Sammies,' aired October 17, 2011), Guy Fieri visited DMK Burger Bar for its chef-driven, made-to-order burgers built on high-quality beef blends and scratch condiments. The Lakeview restaurant opened in 2009 at 2954 N Sheffield Ave, founded by Chicago restaurateurs Michael Kornick and David Morton, and grew into a small local chain with a sister seafood spot called Fish Bar. According to Axios Chicago, DMK Burger Bar and Fish Bar closed in June and July 2026 after about 17 years in business. Yelp's listing for the Sheffield Avenue location is marked closed as of a September 2026 update. The web address once used by the restaurant no longer belongs to the business and now resolves to an unrelated site.

The episode "Boardwalk Bites" featured DMK Burger Bar for its chef-driven burger menu, a concept built around casual, elevated bar food rather than one specific plate. DMK Burger Bar was opened in 2009 by Chicago restaurateurs Michael Kornick and David Morton, according to Axios Chicago. Michael Kornick left the ownership group in 2021, per the same report. Axios Chicago reported on 2026-07-16 that DMK Burger Bar was among a wave of Chicago restaurant closures, and Yelp lists the Sheffield Avenue location as closed, updated September 2026.
