What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

On Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (S12E9, 'Slammin' Sammies,' aired October 17, 2011), Guy Fieri sampled smoked barbecue sandwiches at Whitner's Barbecue, a family-run pit-smoked barbecue restaurant in Virginia Beach's Lynnhaven area. The restaurant served pulled pork, brisket and house-made sauces from its Lynnhaven Parkway storefront for more than a decade. According to Yelp, the business's page is marked closed as of a September 2026 update. Triple D Life reports that Whitner's shut its doors and began selling its remaining equipment, small wares and decor around October 2022. Instagram and Facebook pages under the Whitner's BBQ name remain online but show no recent activity or updated hours. No successor business or new ownership has been reported at the Lynnhaven Parkway address as of this check.
