What happened after Best Thing I Ever Ate?

"The Best Thing I Ever Ate" (episode "Appetizers") featured a Spanish-style tapas dish from Sra. Martinez, chef Michelle Bernstein and David Martinez's restaurant in Miami's Design District, known for a shareable small-plates menu, cocktails, and a late-night lounge atmosphere. According to CBS Miami (2025-01-31), the restaurant opened at 4000 NE 2nd Avenue in 2008 as "our second-ever restaurant," in Bernstein's words, before rising rents forced its closure; Bernstein said "all of the rents tripled." A Yelp listing for the 4000 NE 2nd Avenue address, updated July 2026, continues to mark the location permanently closed.

Bernstein and Martinez later reopened a Sra. Martinez at a different address, 2325 Galiano Street in Coral Gables, according to the same CBS Miami report. Miami New Times had earlier named Sra. Martinez the city's Best Spanish Restaurant in 2009, during the Design District restaurant's original run.
