What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited Fresco Cafe Italiano for the episode 'Cookin' from Scratch' (aired 2021-09-03), where chef Roberto Crescini demonstrated his handmade-pasta technique, including his version of spaghetti alla carbonara. Fresco Cafe Italiano was a small, BYOB Italian restaurant that opened in a Houston strip center in fall 2017. According to CultureMap Houston, published 2022-04-29, the restaurant closed on 2022-05-02 after five years in business, as chef Crescini departed for a sabbatical in Italy, with the owners thanking customers for their support in a farewell message. Yelp's listing, updated 2026-08, still marks the business as permanently closed. Crescini later partnered with Oliver and Paco to open Davanti Ristorante elsewhere in Houston, continuing his fresh-pasta approach in a new restaurant.
