What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives featured Hilo Bay Cafe for the episode 'Cookin' from Scratch' (aired 2021-09-03), spotlighting the restaurant's contemporary, made-from-scratch approach to local Hawaii Island ingredients. Hilo Bay Cafe is a sit-down restaurant in downtown Hilo offering lunch and dinner service, reservations, and take-away. According to the restaurant's own website, hilobaycafe.com, whose homepage carried a build timestamp of 2025-12-03, the cafe listed hours of Tuesday through Saturday, with lunch served 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m., and it offered both dine-in and take-away ordering with an online ordering option.
The same site included active Facebook and Instagram links, a gift-card purchase page, and a careers page listing open positions. No closure or ownership-change announcements were found by any source in this check, and the address and coordinates from the Google Places record matched the site's own listed location.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
