What happened after Kitchen Nightmares?
Le Bistro is a French restaurant that British-trained chef Andy Trousdale and his wife Elin opened in 2001 in Lighthouse Point, Florida, according to Reality TV Updates. By the time of Gordon Ramsay's 2009 visit, the restaurant had been open about eight years, and Elin wanted to adjust the menu to better suit local tastes while Andy was resistant to change, according to the same recap; local diners were said to be unhappy with the food, and Ramsay's tasting of dishes including a duck rillette and lamb curry roll found the menu outdated. Service was also a problem: Andy insisted on doing all the cooking himself despite having help available, causing tickets to take over an hour, and only allowed Elin, rather than other servers, to take orders. Ramsay gathered comment cards from diners showing food and service scores around three and four out of ten. To confront Andy with outside perspective, Ramsay arranged a boat outing with several past customers, who told the couple the food had not been memorable and the dining room felt dark. For the relaunch, Ramsay had the couple redo the restaurant's exterior sign, opened up the interior by removing booths, introduced a blue color scheme and a leathered wall treatment, and coached Andy directly in the kitchen on a new snapper dish; Ramsay also had a second server assist Elin with front-of-house duties. On relaunch night, food began leaving the kitchen at a consistent pace for what the recap describes as the first time in the restaurant's history, and customers responded well. Le Bistro is one of the more durable outcomes among Kitchen Nightmares restaurants. Reality TV Updates, in an update last revised in 2023, describes the restaurant as still open and points to a four-star Yelp rating built on more than 179 reviews, including reviews dated as recently as 2022; a Season 4 "Revisited" episode, which aired March 18, 2011, also shows Ramsay returning to find the food improved. The restaurant's own website, accessed September 7, 2026, lists Andy and Elin Trousdale as the current operators at the same Lighthouse Point address and links to a "Dine Out Lauderdale 2026" promotional menu, indicating the business remains active under its original ownership as of this writing.
