What Happened to Mac & Chester's SRO After Bar Rescue? (Oak Grove, MN)

Mac & Chester's SRO was a softball-themed bar near Anoka, Minnesota, owned by friends Scott Mac and Todd Chester; the name paired their surnames with "SRO," and the bar sat behind softball fields that were part of its identity. On Bar Rescue's "Hard Heads and Softballs," which aired March 6, 2016, the trade outlet Bar & Restaurant News covered the visit under the headline "Mac & Chester's SRO Could be a Swing and a Miss," describing a business in danger of losing its softball-league following amid operational strain. Jon Taffer's team reworked service and the drink program and relaunched the bar under a new name, Boulder Lodge Bar and Grill, aiming to give the space a more defined identity beyond its softball-adjacent branding.

The business's actual street address sits in Oak Grove, Minnesota, at 18919 Lake George Blvd NW, just outside Anoka in the same corner of Anoka County -- the discrepancy likely reflects how the bar was commonly described during the original broadcast rather than an error in the property's location. Boulder Lodge Bar and Grill continued operating for several years after the relaunch; a 2023 review by Reality TV Updates found the business still open under that name. More recent listings conflict on the bar's current status: an older, broader fan site roundup continued to list the location among open Bar Rescue bars, but a Yelp business page for the address, updated in April 2026, lists the venue as "MAC & CHESTER'S SRO - CLOSED," reverting to the bar's original pre-rescue name in its listing title even though it operated as Boulder Lodge for years after the show.

One additional fan site mention referenced a further rebrand to a venue called "The Grant," aimed at a younger clientele, but this could not be corroborated with an independent source and is noted here only as an unconfirmed lead. No reporting found in researching this record describes any legal dispute or regulatory action connected to the business's decline. Because the Yelp listing carries the most recent date among available sources, this summary treats the bar as closed, while noting the conflicting 2023-era reports that described it as still open.
